Terms and Definitions

Advanced Mechanical Biological Engineering Division (AMBED): This is the military/intelligence branch of the Fallen as well as the research and development arm of the organization as far as both the UCA and CMC have pieced together. Exactly what they do is still unknown and a highly guarded secret.

Andra Biomechanics: A Russian medical and cybernetics company formed in the early 21st century. Now they are one of the three major corporations that form the United Corporate Authority.

Armacham Technologies Corporation: Formed in the late 20th century as a communications and satellite manufacturer, they quickly found a place in military vehicle engineering. . Now they are one of the three major corporations that form the United Corporate Authority

Avernus: Formerly the second largest city on Cronus. After a series of powerful earthquakes, this underground city is mostly abandoned though still powered by geothermal energy.

Coth: The Fallen name for Cronus and spoken is manner as if the planet were a living being.

Credit: The monetary unit designation in Shogo and designated by the Yen or Dollar sign. Accepted by both the UCA and the CMC businesses alike.

Cronus: A nearly dead solar system approximately 46 light years from Earth is the largest know producer of Kato. While the system normal would be over looked as to only contain sufficient resources to colonize, this system is vitally important for galactic travel.

Cronus Mining Consortium (CMC): Originally intended to be little more than a miners union on Cronus, the organization expanded to be the defacto government on Cronus wanting autonomy from the UCA. Currently they are still involved in establishing independence from the UCA.

Cronus Mining Consortium Armed Forces (CMCAF): What started out a mining militia had become a novice but functional army. Largely composed of inexperienced soldiers it draws most of its experience through recruitment of discontent UCASF troops or pays mercenaries. It is currently led by Alexi General Timiskov.

Cybergirl: A cybernetically enhanced female from the top secret Shogo Industries process. Cybergirls are said to have more than ten times the amount of cybernetics previously thought to be the human limit. Only the highest Shogo executives and scientists know anything about the cybergirl augmentation process.

Fallen, The: Originally thought to be an extremist terrorist group on Cronus, they are religious cult that worships Cronus (they call the planet Coth). Largely ignored in the Cronian Revolution, they have established a firm foothold and military power on Cronus. Their agenda is to expel all humanity off of Coth.

Grid, The: A virtual world created by a network of computers throughout Users enter the world with an avatar and interact with the Grid much like the real world.
Kato: An organic material found it both solid (mostly considered the dead form) and aqueous form of life, much like algae. This miracle substance can be used to various applications from energy production to proxy faster than light space travel.

Mobile Combat Armor (MCA): Giant robotic armor suit with typically humanoid form. MCAs have revolutionized combat flexibility. This Mecha can be easily and quickly adapted for nearly all operations from subterranean, urban, open ground, and deep space. Average size of a MCA is 10 meters tall and weighting about 75 tons.

Mobile Engineering Vehicle (MEV): Large humanoid shaped vehicles designed to a multitude of tasks from construction to mining. They are predecessors to the MCA design.

Operation Bicycle: The Fallen AMBED MCA pilot program to include the Fallen’s research and development of state of the art MCAs.

SavantTECH: The CMC’s largest manufacturing company that took the place left in the void after the UCA companies embargoed the fledgling government. Originally an American company, the once computer hardware and software manufacturer was acquired by a French pharmaceutical company.

Spiking (Spiker): A term used to refer to access to a computer or computer network outside normal means and altering the program. The term is derived by the typical method of spiking which is to use a device preloaded with the malicious program and literally spiking it into the target computer.

Stion: A material that becomes highly tensile when an electric current is applied to it capable of supporting incredible weight. It used in building suspension in Maritropa.

Straggler: Originally meant a person who lives in the uncontrolled districts and displays signs of Kato over exposure. Now it includes anyone who is essentially unaligned and destitute.

United Corporate Authority (UCA): This is the governing alliance of Anda, Aramcham, and Shogo. It started as a joint venture alliance and now is an independent entity though largely influence by the three major companies that formed it.

United Corporate Authority Security Forces (UCASF): The military branch of the UCA tasked with protecting the corporations investments and interests.
